Cabinets in kitchen are utmost important. Kitchen Cabinets are useful to keep stuffs which we need in daily basis in the kitchen. Now, if you are doing it or seeing it for the first time, it might seem complex, but it’s actually not so. Think of installing kitchen cabinets, as simply screwing boxes to the wall, one after the another in a sequence. For newbies, the most intimidating job is to find a starting point and start screwing the first box. Once that is done, hanging a cabinet is a cake walk. Hence, in this article, we will discuss about some tips which will help you while installing a kitchen cabinet.
Find the High Spot
In some of the older homes, the base is uneven most of the times. These imperfections can be fixed by shimmering off the base a little. After that is done, a laser level and a tape are used to make marks against the wall and find the high sport where the top of the cabinet would be attached. Once the high spot is marked, now is the time to check that if the shelf for utensils and appliances would be in a range where they can be easily accessed.
Start at the Corners
The most important part about kitchen cabinet installation is that, it should align and fit well with the wall. Hence, initially, we need to mark the locations of the base cabinet on the wall. If there are no sink cabinets that needs to be installed, we start the installation of the cabinets from the corner. Because as we said earlier, we start from a point and then continue installing the boxes. Hence, after starting from the corners, we slowly advance towards the middle. In the middle of the cabinets, filler strips to contemplate the spacing adjustments on the wall.
Sometimes there are irregularities at the base of the cabinet, or the wall end cabinets, and those irregularities can be adjusted again by using a filler strip.
Measure from Top-Down for Tall Panels
If you want a tall panel or a full-height cabinet in your cabinet system, then we need to measure up from the high spot, which we have already marked before, and then at the topmost point, mark the height for the tall panel. Similarly, for the lowest position, we will come down from the high spot, and mark the lowest point of the tall cabinet, thereby using a top-down approach.
Minimize Drywall Repairs
Before we install the drywall, it is important that you check that if the under-cabinet lightings have any wiring rough ins. If the holes from which the wire will be inserted are too low, then it might have to be patched at a later point of time. Hence, it is advisable that the stub-outs are located at an inch higher or two, so that when the drywall is actually installed, we can adjust the wire’s according to the drywall.
Hang the Uppers First
We always hang the upper cabinets first, because we need the ladders to do that, also it is easier that way to align the cabinets one after the another in a top-down manner.
Once you are done with the upper cabinets, then you just need to continue aligning the lower cabinets in the way, box by box. Need help with cabinet installing, or planning to remodel your kitchen with new cabinets? Call Winnipeg Cowry Cabinets.
